Started many weeks ago, but only now getting around to putting it up.

  1. Open up a text editor.
  2. Start a simple list.
  3. Continue jotting things down throughout the day.
  4. Maybe snap a photo at some point.
  5. At the day’s end, cut and paste the whole shebang.
  6. Call it a blog post.

9:40 a.m.:
Today will be an experiment in casual writing. Something is better than nothing, right? I’m sure my mom is getting tired of seeing that same embedded video loitering ’round these parts since April. Expect fractured thoughts.

11:26 a.m.:
Need to shut down… computer seems grumpy. I am rising above.

4:16 p.m.:
Just listened to this on NPR’s All Songs Considered. Thanks, Macklemore for “Same Love.”

Oh, Seattle hip-hop, I’m touched and impressed. And I love the album art featuring Macklemore’s uncles. I mean, guncles.

38, 39, 40

Monday, April 9th, 2012

As my last hours of being 38 wane, and on the eve of my 39th birthday where I’ll begin my 40th year on this planet, I want to carry the thoughts in this zefrank video up and over that hill.

(many thanks to James for mentioning this on twitter. Unbeknownst to her, I am taking it as a personal birthday gift.)

6. dinner

It’s what’s for dinner. (Fish burrito, black beans, light on the rice from Papalote.)

Behold, whole wheat

5. 10am

This is the fourth loaf variation I’ve tried from the Tartine Bread book. I was surprised that 70% while wheat was still so soft but compact crumb, and had good rise and ovenspring.

Pretty darn tasty.

3. hands

Decibelle loves a good neck rub, and Christopher is happy to oblige. (she’s not that heavy.)

2. words. #FebPhotoaDay

Face, face. I give you typeface. Tonight I took an intro to letterpress class at San Francisco Center for the Book. We got to make some stationery and notecards.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be going back. There’s much more that I want to learn and make. I imagine many more letters and cards in my future.

A damp and dim start to February.

1. your view today (dreary morning)

Why not try another monthly challenge in the shortest month of the year? Heck, I’ll try two.

At worst, it will result in a few random posts here. That’s better than none.

At best, I’ll have 29 prompted photographs (FebPhotoaDay on Instagram) and 24-29 letters (A Month of Letters) to show for it.

Maybe not such a dim start after all.

What’s the big deal about SOPA and PIPA? The Oatmeal breaks it down nicely. (It’s not pretty and there are some “racy” graphics.)

SOPA and PIPA are about censorship, not piracy: Google explains how you can take action.
